- 86 percent of full-time, U.S. workers plan to pursue a better work/life balance in 2009. In addition, this finding is consistent across all age groups and genders.
- Gender: 87 percent of males and 85 percent of females plan to pursue better work/life balance in 2009.
- Age: 89 percent of 18-34 year olds, 88 percent of 35-54 year olds, and 80 percent of 55 year olds and older plan to pursue better work/life balance in 2009.

A study found that employee stress due to concerns about their children after school is associated with decreased productivity and increased absenteeism. Estimates indicate that costs to businesses range from $496 to $1,984 per employee per year.
